The project focuses on the virtualization of maintenance processes. Specifically, its goal is to train workers in the maintenance tasks of the Main Steam Isolation Valves (MSIVs) at the Vandellós II Nuclear Power Plant. Due to their complexity, size, and radiation exposure, maintenance operations within the plant pose a high level of risk for workers.
This risk can be mitigated, and operations can be carried out more efficiently through proper training. To achieve this, the project scope includes the following phases:
- 3D modeling of the steam isolation valves with all their components (bolts, gaskets, studs, springs, graphite seals, etc.) and their respective coding.
- Updating of maintenance documentation, including manuals and checklists detailing the steps to be followed during maintenance operations.
- Development of virtualization and simulation tools for worker training in virtual reality environments.
- Creation of an online training course to educate workers and assess their learning progress.
