The 4th Spanish Wind Congress, organized by the Wind Energy Business Association (AEE), took place in Madrid on June 26 and 27. Jokin Rico (INGECID’s Technical Director) spoke at the congress, presenting the company’s recent work on the design of tall turbines.
The congress is the sector's biggest annual event, bringing together Spanish and international energy sector leaders, as well as politicians and institutional representatives. This year it was attended by almost 300 professionals and featured a broad agenda of high-level discussions on policy (26 June) and technical matters (27 June).
On the technical side, a number of round tables and talks looked at practical cases relating to key challenges and solutions for the industry, including: "Higher turbines and new turbine concepts"; "How blades are evolving"; "Wind power in isolated systems"; "Operations with high renewable penetration"; "Compliance with new grid codes" and "Offshore wind: the unresolved issue for the Spanish wind sector".
Jokin Rico, INGECID’s Technical Director, gave a talk on the latest advances related to "Higher turbines and new turbine concepts". He focused specifically on the "POLICONO" turbine, a design that allows greater heights to be achieved at competitive costs. The geometry of the tower allows climbing formwork to be used, speeding up construction rates while guaranteeing the safety and reliability of the system.
