The Spanish National Radioactive Waste Company (ENRESA) awarded the joint venture known as UTE INGENIERIA INSTALACION DE APOYO ATI GAROÑA 2022 the contract “Engineering for the design, licensing, environmental processing, and construction management for the execution of a support facility for the ATI at the Santa María de Garoña Nuclear Power Plant.”. The joint venture, formed by IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture S.A.U., Westinghouse Electric Spain S.A.U. and INGECID Investigación y Desarrollo de Proyectos S.L., was awarded the contract for €5.7 million after submitting the best value for money bid.
The project, with an approximate duration of 60 months, aimed to implement a support facility for the CNSMG's ATI, which was in a state of permanent shutdown. This complementary facility enabled inspection, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment tasks to be carried out on ENUN 52-B containers, as part of phase 1 of the decommissioning process that began in 2022.
This contract reinforced INGECID's track record in the nuclear sector, consolidating its experience in comprehensive engineering projects, design, and management of critical facilities linked to the decommissioning of nuclear power plants.
