INGECID has implemented the BIM methodology in the Projects and Works Department of the San Sebastian City Council. Through this process, the department has adopted the BIM (Building Information Modelling) methodology to enhance project execution, improving team efficiency and supporting better decision-making in construction works.
INGECID has gone beyond the basic principles of BIM implementation, taking into account the specific needs of the department’s professionals and using past references and future projects as a foundation for the process.
To achieve this, the company carried out a thorough analysis of the types of projects executed—past, present, and future—along with the human team, number of stakeholders, usual work methodologies, and folder structures, among other parameters.

Deliverables for the Development and Application of BIM

Based on this work, several deliverables were produced, led by the document “BIM Guide. Projects and Works Department of the City Council of San Sebastian.”

The guide is based on references such as UNE-EN ISO 19650, buildingSMART, and BIM Forum standards, and includes:

Strategies and objectives
Roles and responsibilities
Common Data Environment (CDE)
BIM Uses
BIM models
File naming conventions
Deliverables
In addition, INGECID developed a customized BIM Execution Plan (BEP) template for the two main phases managed by the department in this type of project: the design phase and the construction phase. Finally, templates for Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Civil 3D modeling software were delivered.

Remodeling of the Loiola Thoroughfare

INGECID had previously collaborated with the Donostia–San Sebastián City Council on the remodeling of the Loiola thoroughfare. In that project, INGECID managed the BIM process, developed the initial BIM model, and supervised the construction phase up to the completion of the As-built model.
The project scope included 3D modeling, clash detection between existing and designed elements, 4D and 5D applications, and the production of infographics and videos. Thanks to the BIM methodology, potential issues were anticipated, and a 3D/BIM model was available to support project execution. The new thoroughfare, over half a kilometer long, has significantly improved the quality of life for residents by adding green spaces, a public elevator, and other urban enhancements.

Finally, templates for Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Civil 3D modeling software were delivered.
