The deep foundations designed by INGECID for NABRAWIND TECHNOLOGIES’ NABRALIFT tower have been constructed in Morocco. This tower will be the tallest on the continent, with a hub height of 144 meters and a 3.6 MW wind turbine.

The tower, which has a self-lifting system, is supported on three legs, each supported on a deep foundation, a patented solution that uses 80% less concrete than a standard installation.

Technically, the piled foundation design is highly complex, as the piles have to withstand both compression and traction loads of hundreds of tons, and the bolt cages that connect the towers require very advanced calculation methodologies.

In addition to the structural calculations for the foundations, the project included the definition of the construction process and quality control to ensure the required tolerances throughout the installation process. In addition, a 3D model of the framework was developed, making it possible to minimize interference and complete assembly as efficiently as possible.
